It is said with, suicidal intent. Death followed Tuesday afternoon. Funeral was held at the home of her son and interment made in Shawnee Cemetery.
Source: The People's Advocate, May 31, 1934 Lahley, Mrs. John Mrs. John Lahley age 72 years, of Newark, formerly Miss Margaret Sheeler of this place, died in Newark last Saturday. Funeral was held in Newark Tuesday. She is the sister of Miss Minnie Sheeler of this place.
Source: The People's Advocate, June 8, 1934 Lucas, John Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at the Deavertown Methodist Church for John Lucas, 40, Roseville miner, who was fatally injured Friday afternoon in a slate fall at the Glow Coal Co. min near Roseville. Joseph Lucas, brother of the deceased, and Everett Martin, South Zanesville, were also injured in the slate fall. Both are receiving treatment at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville. Lucas is survived by his widow; two sons, John and Lester of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth and Pearl, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lucas, Sr. of Deavertown; five brothers, Leslie and Joseph of the home; Andrew and Louis of Akron, and Stephen of Cleveland; three sisters, Mrs. George Allard of Roseville, Mrs. William Tietz and Mrs. Jospeph Olah, both of Corning. Unknown, May 8, 1939 Lucas, Julius Julius Lucas, 71, of New Lexington Rout 1, died at 8:17 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 1988, at Mark Rest Center in McConnelsville, where he had been a patient since Dec. 4, 1987. Mr. Lucas was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Claycraft Co. in Shawnee. He was born June 7, 1916, at South River, N.J., a son of Mary Peters of Heartland Health Care Center in Pleasantville and the late Mike Lucas. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Mary Robitski Lucas; three sisters, Mary Varga of Highland Park, N.J., Mrs. James (Julia) Johnson of Sheffield Lake and Jennie Johnson of Hemlock; two brothers, Mike and William Lucas, both of Corning Route 2. Friends were received Monday, Jan. 18, at Humphrey Funeral Home in Shawnee. Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home with Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Lucas, 79, formerly of Township Road 215, New Lexington, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 1990, at the Mark Rest Center in McConnelsville where she had been a patient since January 1988. She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a former employee of General Motors in Detroit, Mich. as well as the Bryant Manufacturing Co. in New Lexington. Born June 15, 1911, in Fremont, she was a daughter of John and Eva Binduchowska Robitski. Surviving are two brothers and three sisters, all of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Lucas, Jan. 15, 1988. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Humphrey Funeral Home in Shawnee, where services will be at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Springer Cemetery near Hemlock. Source: Zanesville Times Recorder, June, 1990 Lucas, Mary Mary Lucas, 97, formerly of rural Corning, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 1988, at Lancaster-Fairfield Hospital in Lancaster. She was a resident at Heartland Fairfield Care Center for five years. Mrs. Lucas was born May 16, 1891, in Hungary, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andy Peters. Her husband, Mike Lucas, died September 6, 1956. Surviving are two sons, Mike Lucas and William Lucas, both of Corning; three daughters, Jennie Johnson of rural Corning, Mary Varga of New Brunswick, N.J., and Julia Johnson of Lorain; 27 grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Julius Lucas. Friends called Tuesday and Wednesday at the Humphrey Funeral Home in Shawnee, where services were at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating. Burial was in New Lexington Cemetery. A plant manager for Nicrofibers Co. at Shawnee, he was born June 5, 1948, in Salt Lick Township, the son of Michael and Bertha Arkley Lucas of Corning Route 2. Surviving besides his parents are his wife, the former Ruthe E. Filkins, two sons, Kirk and Michael of the home and a daughter, Teresa, also of the home. Also surviving are two brothers, Kenny and Terry, both of Corning Route 2; five sisters, Mrs. Gary (Eileen) Gaddis of Shawnee Route 1, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Harris and Mrs. Tim (Nancy) Baker, both of Corning Route 2, Mrs. Orville (Ruth) Johnson of New Lexington Route 1 and Mrs. Harland (Norma) Spencer of Crooksville Route 2 and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Lucas of Fairfield Care Center, Lancaster. Funeral mass was conducted Saturday a.m. in St. Bernard Catholic Church, Corning, with Rev. Richard Metzger and Rev. Ronald Arter officiating. Source: Perry County Tribune, September 13, 1956 Lucas, Mike Mike Lucas, 92, of Saltlick Township, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1912, in Hungary, the son of the late Mike and Mary Peters Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a retired coal miner and farmer. He was a Catholic by faith, member of UMWA, attended the Congo School and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Bertha Arkley Lucas; his daughters, Ilene (Gary) Gaddis, Barbara (Jack) Harris, Ruth (Orval) Johnson, Norma (Harland) Spencer and Nancy (Tim) Baker; sons, Kenny (Michelle) Lucas and Terry (Tina) Lucas; a sister, Julia Johnson; a brother, William Lucas Sr.; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lucas; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Lucas; a brother, Julius Lucas; and sisters, Jennie Johnson and Mary Varga. Calling hours will be anytime after 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the J.E. Humphrey Funeral Home, 118 W. Walnut St., Shawnee with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Corning.
